Alice Wiewel is the Netherlands’ Honorary Consul-Designate for Oregon.  She had a 40-year architectural career and served as the State Architect of Oregon (retired). She was the Director of Capital Planning and Associate University Architect at Georgetown University. She was born in Delft, home of Vermeer, to a Dutch engineer father and chemist mother from Indonesia. In 2008 she came to Oregon with her husband, Wim Wiewel, Lewis & Clark College and Portland State University President emeritus.  She loves the beautiful landscapes, clean air and soft rains of Oregon. She finds purpose in building community, particularly through providing care for those in hospice.  She is a trustee of the Portland State Foundation.
